| Aanvullende informatie |
A poorly understood class of small bronzes produced by Germanic groups operating along or beyond the Rhine-Danube frontier, these pieces imitate Constantinian and later Roman coinage without direct authorization — struck for exchange in communities where Roman coin circulated by prestige as much as by trade necessity. Attribution remains genuinely contested; no single tribal group has been confirmed as the issuing authority, and the weight spread across known examples suggests multiple production centers rather than one.
