The composition, though clearly based on the standard imperial prototype, exhibits the stylistic distortion and crude execution typical of barbarous imitations, with elongated limbs and a simplified horse rendered in a dynamic but naive manner. A garbled exergual mark and degenerate field inscription replace the original mint marks and legend. The entire design is enclosed by a debased, largely illegible Latin border legend. |
