Kolophon's autonomous bronze coinage of this period was struck in the decades following Alexander's campaigns through Ionia, when the city navigated shifting allegiances between Macedonian successors. The magistrate name Hikesios appears on a small subset of issues within this series — individual magistrates rotated through what was likely an eponymous or liturgical civic office, making each name a chronological anchor point for the sequence Milne and Kinns worked to reconstruct.
Kinns's 1980 study remains the definitive die analysis for this coinage, identifying 103 as a relatively scarce pairing within the broader issue.
