Obverse description Centrally placed Arabic legend in flowing Naskh script occupying the full field of the irregularly shaped flan, reading 'Sultan Suleyman ibn Selim Khan', the royal titulature of Suleyman I. The script is boldly cast in high relief against a granular, porous copper field characteristic of cast Ottoman copper coinage. The flan edges are uneven and show typical casting flashing, with no border or decorative framing elements enclosing the inscription.
