| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Achaean colonial mint at Patras. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic features with a laurel wreath crowning the head. The legend, largely illegible on this heavily worn specimen, would originally have surrounded the imperial effigy in the field. |

Patras was refounded as a Roman colony by Augustus around 14 BC, resettling veterans from the Praetorian and other cohorts — giving it the colonial designation that appears in its coin legends. By Domitian's reign, the colony retained the right to strike local bronze, a privilege increasingly curtailed elsewhere in Greece. The reference II#262 places this within the RPC II framework, where Patraean bronzes of this period are notably scarce in fine condition, likely owing to heavy local circulation rather than low original mintage.
