背面描述 Ornate trident head displayed upright at center, its three prongs elaborately decorated with scrollwork and flanked by volute ornaments at the base, giving the implement a highly stylized architectural quality. To the left of the trident shaft appears the Greek letter Beta (B), and to the right the letter Alpha (A), together forming the royal abbreviation BASILEOS. Below the trident base is an AP monogram and a labrys (double axe), serving as mint or magistrate control symbols. The overall composition is symmetrically arranged within an irregular bronze flan.

附加信息

Demetrius I seized Macedonia in 294 BC by murdering Alexander V, his own guest, at a dinner — an act that secured the throne but permanently alienated the Macedonian nobility. His reign lasted only six years before his own troops deserted to Pyrrhus of Epirus and Lysimachus in 288 BC, leaving him to die a captive of Seleucus I in 283 BC. Bronze issues from this reign are correspondingly scarce; the political instability meant no sustained minting program was ever established.
