| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Galatian civic coinage. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the emperor with a laurel wreath encircling the head. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ϹƐΒΑϹΤΟϹ, disposed around the effigy. The flan exhibits the irregular shape characteristic of provincially struck hammered bronze coinage of the mid-first century AD. |
