The Veliocasses occupied the lower Seine valley — roughly the territory around modern Rouen — and their bronze issues of this period reflect the economic contraction following Caesar's conquest of Gaul, when indigenous minting shifted sharply away from gold toward base metal as tribal wealth evaporated under Roman extraction. The classe V designation within this series indicates a late stylistic degeneration from earlier, more resolved dies, a pattern consistent across multiple Belgic peoples in the decade after 52 BC.
