Ameselon was a small Sikel settlement in the interior of Sicily whose precise location remains disputed — most scholars place it somewhere in the Ennean highlands, but no definitive archaeological site has been confirmed. The city disappears from the ancient record entirely after the Roman consolidation of Sicily following the First Punic War, which explains the relatively compressed bronze series attributed to it. That this issue spans nearly 160 years in the catalog dating reflects scholarly uncertainty more than actual production continuity.
