| Obverse description | Laureate head of Zeus facing left, rendered in robust archaic-Italic style with a full, curling beard and deeply modelled facial features. The laurel wreath is prominently articulated, its leaves extending toward the right field. On some specimens a thunderbolt appears in the field behind the head, serving as a divine attribute. The portrait occupies most of the flan, with the irregular flan edge characteristic of early Apulian bronze coinage. No legend or inscription is present. |
