Reverse description An upright, filleted thyrsos occupying the central field, depicted with a pine cone finial at the top and vine leaves or ivy entwined along the shaft, flanked by dangling fillets. The ethnic legend KOMANΩN is inscribed in two lines to either side of the thyrsos, identifying the issuing city of Comana Pontica. The composition is characteristic of Hellenistic civic bronzes honoring Dionysos as the principal deity of the mint city.
