| Reverse description | Dionysos depicted standing left in full figure, wearing a kalathos on his head and long drapery; he extends his right hand to hold a kantharos and raises his left arm to support a filleted thyrsos resting against his shoulder. A Greek civic legend is distributed in the field to either side of the deity, identifying the issuing city of Nysa. The composition is rendered in the bold, slightly schematic style typical of late Hellenistic provincial bronze coinage. |
