توضیحات پشت سکه Hermias, the local hero of Iasos, depicted swimming rightward astride a dolphin, his nude body rendered in a dynamic, elongated pose characteristic of Hellenistic marine iconography. Below the central figure, a quiver and bow are shown in the lower field, serving as divine attributes associated with Apollo. The ethnic legend IAΣΕΩΝ appears in the upper field to the left, identifying the issuing civic authority. The reverse die is moderately worn, with the figures remaining clearly discernible against the plain field.

اطلاعات تکمیلی

Iasos was a coastal Carian city whose harbor economy depended heavily on fish — so much so that ancient writers, including Athenaeus, recorded that the locals were so fixated on the fish market that a citharode performing in the agora was abandoned mid-concert the moment the fish-seller's bell rang. The bronze civic coinage produced here during this period reflects a municipal economy asserting independence between successive Macedonian, Ptolemaic, and Seleucid overlordships — the city changed hands repeatedly across the late 3rd century. Ashton's die study established this as the earliest group in the Iasian bronze sequence.
