Parion, a Milesian colony on the southern shore of the Propontis, maintained an unusually long tradition of civic bronze coinage that outlasted many of its regional neighbors. The city's position made it a natural waypoint for traffic moving between the Aegean and the Black Sea, and its mint remained active through successive periods of Macedonian, Seleucid, and eventually Pergamene influence — each leaving traces in the evolving typology of its bronze issues without fully suppressing the city's independent civic identity.
