| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quiver, shown in profile and rendered with incised detail, occupies the central field, surrounded by a laurel or olive wreath tied at the base. This device alludes to the mythological archer Kydon, eponymous hero and founder of the city. The civic ethnic legend KYΔΩ appears in two lines within or around the wreath, identifying the issuing polis. The overall composition is characteristic of late Hellenistic Cretan civic bronze issues. |
