Antioch ad Hippum — the "Antioch by the Horse," a Decapolis city on the Golan Heights — struck this bronze in the final year of Nero's reign, months before his suicide in June 68 AD triggered the Year of the Four Emperors. The city held the right to date its coinage by a local era tied to the Pompeian settlement of 63 BC, and this issue falls within that civic dating system rather than imperial regnal years.
