正面描述 Laureate bust of Emperor Nero facing right, draped and cuirassed, depicted in the Hellenistic provincial style characteristic of eastern Roman mints. The effigy displays the emperor's distinctive broad features and thick neck, rendered with moderate relief typical of Decapolis civic coinage. The circular Greek legend ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor by his formal name. The flan is slightly irregular and shows the robust hammered fabric common to bronze civic issues of the region.

附加信息

Antioch ad Hippum — the "Antioch by the Horse," a Decapolis city on the Golan Heights — struck this bronze in the final year of Nero's reign, months before his suicide in June 68 AD triggered the Year of the Four Emperors. The city held the right to date its coinage by a local era tied to the Pompeian settlement of 63 BC, and this issue falls within that civic dating system rather than imperial regnal years.

Spijkerman 1 places this as the inaugural type of the city's coinage sequence — a detail with real weight for collectors of Decapolis bronzes.
