| Reverse description | Two standing figures occupy the central field: a turreted Tyche of the city, draped, facing left, holds a sceptre or standard in her right hand, while a second figure, possibly Zeus or a civic deity, stands to her left holding an attribute. The composition reflects the syncretic iconographic traditions of the Decapolis, blending Hellenistic and Roman artistic conventions. The Greek circular legend ΑΝΤΙΟΧΕΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΡΟΣ ΤΩ ΙΠΠΩ runs around the periphery, naming the civic community of Antioch ad Hippum, with the regnal year ΑΛΡ (year 131 of the Pompeian era, corresponding to 67/68 CE) present in the field. |
