Reverse description A large krater (mixing vessel) depicted facing, with two handles, centrally placed in the field. To the lower left and right, grain ears flank the base of the vessel, referencing Metapontum's celebrated agricultural wealth. The ethnic legend ΜΕΤΑ is inscribed vertically along the left side of the field in Greek characters. The reverse type reflects the city's civic identity and its renowned grain production in the fertile Lucanian plain.
