| Obverse description | Nude figure of the river-god Amenanos depicted in vigorous reclining pose to left, his body semi-recumbent and supported on one arm, holding a rhyton; he wears a laurate crown and reclines upon an amphora from which water flows. The youthful deity is rendered in the Hellenistic naturalistic style, with musculature clearly delineated. No legend appears on the obverse. |

| Reverse description | An owl, symbol of Athena and civic authority, stands facing right atop a monogram, flanked on either side by the conical piloi (caps) of the Dioskouroi, each surmounted by a six-pointed star. The civic ethnic legend KATANAIΩN is inscribed in Greek characters along the lower field, identifying the issuing city. The composition is well-centred within the flan, with the owl rendered in bold relief characteristic of Sicilian bronze coinage of the Hellenistic period. |
