Reverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic legend within a lunette-shaped cartouche framed by a beaded border, giving the name and title of the ruler Sultan Mustafa Khan. Below the cartouche, the mint name Shaki (شكي) and the AH date 1209 are clearly struck. A large crescent-shaped ornamental device encloses the central inscription, a characteristic design element of Sheki Khanate coinage. The surrounding field is accented with pellets and foliate ornaments. The irregular flan and slightly off-center strike are typical of the hammered technique employed at this provincial mint.
