Obverse description The obverse field is dominated by the Shi'a Islamic profession of faith rendered in bold, flowing Nasta'liq script across multiple registers: 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah, Ali wali Allah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God). The central legend is arranged in horizontal bands filling the flan, with the script bold and deeply struck. A circular border of secondary inscriptions or decorative elements surrounds the central field, typical of Afsharid hammered silver coinage. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-struck issues of this period.
