Obverse description The field is entirely occupied by the Shi'ia Kalima in bold Arabic script arranged in horizontal registers, with the names of the twelve Imams disposed in the surrounding marginal legend. The central text proclaims the Islamic declaration of faith and the wilayat of 'Ali, rendered in a confident nastaliq hand. A beaded inner border separates the central inscriptions from the peripheral names of the Imams, which fill the field in a continuous circular arrangement. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and uneven strike typical of Safavid hammered silver coinage.
