| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the Shi'ia Kalima inscription in bold naskh script, reading 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God,' arranged in horizontal registers. The names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam encircle the central legend in the outer border, rendered in flowing Arabic calligraphy. The overall design is characteristic of Safavid hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges and no pictorial devices. The date appears in the lower portion of the central field. The coin exhibits the dense, layered epigraphic style typical of late Safavid silver issues. |
