| Obverse description | Persian nasta'liq legends arranged in multiple registers across the field, reading 'By the grace of God, Abbas II struck the sahebqerani coin throughout the world, struck at Tabriz, AH 1078.' A small VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) countermark is applied to the field, punched over the original Safavid host coin. The legends are executed in the hammered style typical of Safavid silver coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears the Shi'ite Kalima (declaration of faith) inscribed in Arabic script, arranged within a central cartouche across multiple registers. The legend names the Prophet Muhammad as the Messenger of God and Ali as the Friend of God, followed by the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam. The text is executed in the compact, dense nasta'liq style characteristic of Safavid hammered silver coinage. |
