| Obverse description | Within a finely engraved laurel wreath, the large numeral '960' occupies the central field, flanked by small four-petalled floral rosettes scattered throughout the interior. Two larger quatrefoil flowers appear prominently above and below the denomination, lending the design a naturalistic ornamental quality. The mint date and Rio de Janeiro mint mark ('R') appear at the base of the wreath, separated by a cross. The surrounding legend, reading 'PETRUS II D.G. CONST. IMP. ET PERP. BRAS. DEF.', encircles the entire design within a toothed border. |
