| Reverse description | Central device features the imperial arms of Brazil: a square shield bearing an armillary sphere encircled by a ring of nineteen stars representing the provinces, surmounted by the imperial crown. The shield is framed by a wreath composed of coffee and tobacco branches tied with a ribbon bow at the base. The circumferential Latin legend IN.HOC.SIGNO.VINCES. ('In this sign you shall conquer') runs around the periphery. The entire design is contained within a raised milled border. The composition reflects the newly established Brazilian Empire's heraldic iconography under Pedro I. |
