Reverse description The Portuguese royal arms — a crowned shield quartered with the arms of Portugal, set upon an armillary sphere — occupy the central field of the reverse, this being the obverse of the original Argentine 8 Reales host coin now serving as the reverse of the countermarked piece. The shield is surrounded by a radiating border and enclosed within a tied laurel wreath, the branches of which cross at the base and are bound with a ribbon. The legend 'EN UNION Y LIBERTAD' arcs across the upper field, while the denomination '8', assayer initial 'S', and mint mark 'F·I' appear to the left and right respectively, with the date '1815' positioned in the lower exergual area.
