Reverse description The enthroned Madonna, veiled and draped in flowing robes, is depicted seated upon billowing clouds in a devotional baroque style, holding the Christ Child to her right side; she carries a sceptre in her left hand. A radiant halo of twelve stars encircles her crowned head, underscoring her role as Patroness of the Republic of Genoa. The Latin legend ET · REGE · EOS · arcs around the left and right periphery, with the date 1795 inscribed to the right. The denomination L · 96 appears prominently in the lower exergue, separated by a central dot. The overall composition reflects the deep Marian devotion characteristic of Genoese coinage of the period.
