| Obverse description | Green cross-hatched underprint covers the entire field, with a central vignette of two putti flanking a sunburst medallion bearing the denomination '90 Heller' in bold numerals. A silhouette of a ruined tower rises above the medallion between the two cherubic figures, which are accompanied by grape clusters and floral garlands. At the top, an ochre-coloured ribbon banner carries the word 'GUTSCHEIN' in white script lettering, while the issuing authority inscription runs along the bottom margin in Gothic blackletter type. |

| Reverse description | Green cross-hatched underprint frames a large central cartouche with an ornate purple curvilinear border enclosing a pale unprinted field bearing a faint watermark-style vignette. The redemption text and the name of the local authority head are printed within the cartouche in brown letterpress type. The edition designation 'Auflage 2/III' appears in the lower right corner outside the cartouche. |

Austrian Notgeld issued by the village of Steinkreuz — a municipality small enough that the 90 Heller denomination would have covered little more than a loaf of bread at wartime prices. The signature of Johann Riepl indicates local administrative issue, almost certainly the Bürgermeister or a designated treasurer acting under the emergency currency provisions that the Austrian government extended to municipalities during the First World War coin shortage.
Steinkreuz notgeld pieces are rarely encountered in dealer stock, a function of tiny original print runs rather than high attrition in circulation.
