Comments

St. Agatha bei Waizenkirchen is a small rural parish in Upper Austria, and this 90 Heller Notgeld is among the more unusual denominations produced during the postwar Austrian small-change crisis. The 90 Heller value was not a rounding convenience — it was deliberately set to return 10 Heller change from a 1 Krone transaction, a practical retail calculation that became common among Upper Austrian municipalities trying to manage everyday commerce without usable coin.

Bürgermeister Georg Altenhofer's signature authorizes the issue under the municipality's own liability, typical of the Gemeinde-issued series that proliferated across Austria between 1919 and 1921 before the national government moved to suppress local emission.
