Rindlberg is a small village in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similarly sized communities it issued Notgeld during the currency chaos following Austria's defeat in the First World War. The national coinage had effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable — forcing municipal authorities down to the parish level to print their own emergency fractions. Most of these issues ran for only a matter of months before being recalled under pressure from Vienna.
The Jaksch/Pick suffix "IIc" indicates a specific printing variant within the series, suggesting Rindlberg produced multiple runs — unusual for a settlement this small, and worth noting when comparing examples.
