Opmerkingen

Pram is a small market town in Upper Austria, and this 90 Heller note is a product of the acute small-change crisis that followed Austria's defeat in the First World War. The new Republic had essentially no mechanism to supply denominations below 1 Krone to rural communities, so hundreds of municipalities printed their own emergency currency — Notgeld — under authorization from the central government. Gemeinde Pram was one of thousands that did so.

The Preßverein Linz, operating as Akademische Buchdruckerei, handled a large volume of such commissions across Upper Austria, which keeps print quality consistent but makes individual municipal issues difficult to distinguish without the issuing text.
