Hausmaning is a small village in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it issued its own emergency paper money — Notgeld — during the postwar economic collapse when small coinage disappeared almost entirely from circulation. The 90 Heller denomination is an odd one, chosen to fill a specific gap in daily transactions rather than conform to any round figure.
H. Siebert's designer credit places this among the more carefully produced local issues, where artistic ambition occasionally outran the printing budget. Authentication relied entirely on Bürgermeister Dorninger's signature and an official municipal stamp — thin security by any standard, but counterfeiting a 90 Heller village note was rarely worth the effort.
