Obverse description Host coin obverse of a Portuguese 800 Reis dated 1732 (KM#218), struck in 22-carat gold, featuring the laureate and draped bust of King João V facing right. The surrounding Latin legend reads IOANNES V D G PORT ET ALG REX, partially visible around the periphery, with the date 1732 appearing in the lower exergual area. A small circular 'G' countermark, applied by Grenada monetary authorities in 1798, is impressed over the portrait field, authenticating the coin's revaluation to 9 Shillings for local circulation. The coin retains a milled border around the edge of the flan.
