Reverse description The denomination numeral '9' prominently displayed in the upper centre of the field, rendered in a large, bold style characteristic of Goa Mint hammered coinage. Below the numeral, the word 'REIS' appears in the lower portion of the field, completing the statement of face value. The flan is irregular and planchet surfaces show the typical crude finish of early nineteenth-century hammered colonial copper coinage struck at Goa.
