Obverse description Within a lozenge-shaped cartouche at the centre of the field, the Napoleonic Imperial eagle displayed, perched on a thunderbolt. The date flanks the cartouche to either side, with the inscription ZARA appearing in the field adjacent to the lozenge. The design is characteristic of Napoleonic-era emergency coinage, struck under siege conditions with deliberately plain surrounding fields.
