American Art Classics produced a range of novelty "fantasy" denominations in the early 2000s — legally permissible in the United States provided the notes are clearly distinguishable from genuine currency, which the $9 face value alone accomplishes. The company operated under the same broad framework that allows souvenir card issuers and prop money manufacturers to produce currency-like items without running afoul of 18 U.S.C. § 504.
No monetary authority backs it, no central bank authorized it. A collectible from the start, never intended for anything else.
