Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, executed after the third definitive portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, centrally placed within the Reuleaux triangular field. The Queen wears the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, her truncation bare. A rope-twist inner border frames the field, following the curved triangular outline of the flan. The legend '9 DOLLARS' appears along the lower-left edge and 'ELIZABETH II' along the upper-right edge, with the date '1997' positioned along the lower curved side. The engraver's initials 'RDM' appear on the truncation.
