Comments

The Banco Nacional's 9 centavos fuertes denomination is one of the more eccentric fractions to survive from Argentine provincial banking. The "fuertes" designation distinguished these notes from the heavily depreciated paper pesos moneda corriente then in circulation — the implication being that these were backed by something harder, though in practice the distinction was often more aspirational than real.

G. Kraft operated as a commercial printer in Buenos Aires rather than a specialist security press, which is reflected in the relatively modest production values of this series. Low-denomination fractional notes of this type rarely survived circulation in any quantity.
