| 正面描述 | Bare head of Artemis turned slightly to the left, rendered in archaic Ionian style, with a wreath of laurel or ivy encircling the hair. The portrait is set within a beaded border. The facial features are boldly modelled despite the small flan, exhibiting the characteristic provincial die-cutting of late Classical Asia Minor. |

Phygela was a minor coastal settlement in Ionia, situated near Ephesus, whose autonomous coinage output was extremely limited — this small bronze represents one of the few material confirmations that the city maintained even a nominal civic identity distinct from its powerful neighbor. The SNG Kayhan range covering this type draws almost entirely from a single regional hoard context, which explains why specimens tend to cluster in condition rather than appearing as isolated finds.
