| Popis rubu | The entire reverse field is dominated by the Portuguese royal coat of arms of João V in the second shield type, comprising the central escutcheon charged with the quinas (five blue shields in cross arrangement, each bearing five white bezants) enclosed within a bordure of castles, all surmounted by an elaborate open royal crown. The shield is flanked symmetrically by ornate Baroque acanthus and scroll mantling that fills the field to the rim. No peripheral legend is present; the design is purely armorial in character, reflecting the Baroque decorative vocabulary prevalent in colonial Portuguese gold coinage of the period. |
