| Reverse description | The Brazilian Imperial coat of arms occupies the central field, consisting of an armillary sphere superimposed over a shield charged with a blue sky, stars, and a green band, the whole surmounted by an imperial crown of arched form with prominent acanthus-leaf decoration. The shield is flanked by a symmetrical laurel and coffee branch wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The circular peripheral legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES ('In this sign thou shalt conquer') runs along the outer rim, separated by pellet stops. |
