Reverse description The central device features a large armillary sphere rendered in high relief, its meridian band and latitude rings clearly delineated, set upon a small stand. Superimposed across the sphere is the elongated cross of the Order of Christ, its arms extending nearly to the beaded border. The Latin legend is divided into four abbreviated words distributed around the periphery in the four quadrants between the cross arms, reading clockwise. The overall composition is bold and well-centered, consistent with standard Lisbon Mint coinage for the Brazilian colonial series of João V.
