By that point, thousands of German municipalities were doing the same. What distinguishes Oberhof's issue is Meisenbach Riffarth & Co., a Leipzig firm with a strong reputation in color lithography, whose work on this series is noticeably above the average quality of provincial Notgeld. The 80 Pfennig denomination is an odd figure — most Notgeld series favored round values — suggesting this was calibrated to cover a specific local fare or fee.
