Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Selim III, rendered in the ornate Ottoman calligraphic style with characteristic looped and interlaced strokes rising vertically from a broad base. The tughra is flanked by scrolling foliate flourishes and surmounted by a stylized crown-like ornament. The field is plain and unadorned beyond the monogram itself. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with a cable or rope-pattern outer rim encircling the entire obverse.

Reverse description The reverse bears a multi-line Arabic legend in Ottoman script occupying the central field, arranged in three horizontal registers. At the top of the field, the regnal year numeral (١٦, i.e., year 16) is prominently displayed above the mint formula. The inscription reads 'Struck in Tripoli West, 1203,' recording the mint name, the Hijri year of Sultan Selim III's accession, and the regnal year. The legend is contained within a plain linear inner circle, itself surrounded by a beaded border consistent with the obverse treatment.
