| Mintage | 1592 - Siege Coinage |
| Additional information |
Struck during the Strasbourg Chapter War, a conflict that erupted when the cathedral chapter split between a Protestant faction backing Johann Georg of Brandenburg and a Catholic faction supporting Karl of Lorraine — both elected bishop simultaneously in 1592. The resulting armed standoff, ultimately resolved by imperial intervention in favor of the Catholic claimant, produced emergency klippe coinage as military financing. This piece is attributable to the Brandenburg faction's minting activity during the siege operations that year.
