| Obverse description | Printed in orange and black on cream paper, the obverse presents a central vignette of two standing male figures in traditional dress set against a stylised forest backdrop, flanked by ornate foliate scrollwork borders. Denomination numerals '80' appear in orange-filled cartouches at the upper left and upper right corners, with the value inscription 'Achtzig Heller' across the top in decorative script. Loich is a small parish municipality in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of comparable communities it issued Heller-denomination Notgeld during the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. The 80 Heller value is an odd one — most Austrian municipal issues clustered around 10, 20, and 50 Heller — which suggests this denomination was calculated against a specific local need rather than issued as part of a tidy matched set.
Druck Radinger in Mariazell handled the printing, a regional press serving the Mostviertel and upper Styrian border area. The designer credit to Jos. u. Schönbrunner is worth noting: this was a Vienna-based firm with a long background in decorative printing and bookplates, an unusual choice for a minor rural commune's emergency scrip.
