| Opmerkingen |
Lend is a small market town in the Salzburg uplands, and this 80 Heller note is one of thousands of Austrian Notgeld issues that flooded out of municipalities between 1919 and 1922 — a direct consequence of the postwar coin shortage that left small transactions nearly impossible to complete. The denomination itself is telling: 80 Heller is an awkward value that only makes sense as change-making currency, not savings.
R. Kiesel was a Salzburg commercial printer, not a specialist security firm, which is worth knowing when assessing any example — registration and ink consistency vary across the run.
