Obverse description Dark blue and rose-brown Notgeld note with an elaborate geometric guilloche border of interlocking cross and oval motifs framing the entire design. The upper portion carries a Gothic-script title panel reading 'Notgeld der Marktgemeinde Kirchberg a. Wagram' flanked by denomination numerals '80' in white on dark cartouches at each corner. A central rectangular vignette presents a fine landscape view of the town with a church steeple rising above the treeline. Below the vignette, a two-column text block states the voucher terms in German, valid to 31.12.1920, with an oval official seal of the Marktgemeinde at centre and two manuscript signatures of the Vizebürgermeister and Bürgermeister respectively.

Kirchberg am Wagram is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar communities between 1919 and 1921, it issued its own emergency paper money — Notgeld — to compensate for the chronic small-denomination coin shortage that followed Austria-Hungary's collapse. The 80 Heller value is an odd one: most Notgeld series clustered around 10, 20, and 50 Heller, making this denomination worth a second look for thematic completeness.

The Jaksch/Pick suffix "IIa" indicates a recognized variety within the series, distinguished by some combination of paper stock, ink, or typographic detail — collectors building the full Kirchberg set will need to verify against the Jaksch reference specifically.
