| Beschrijving voorzijde | Brown and blue bicolour Notgeld issued by the Gemeinde Hinterbrühl bei Wien. The centre is occupied by a detailed line-engraved vignette of Hotel F.M. Radetzky set against a wooded hillside, signed by artist R. Wild in the lower left corner. The ornate typographic border carries the denomination '80' in all four corners within circular cartouches, with the title 'KASSENSCHEIN' across the top and the value spelled out 'ACHTZIG HELLER' in large letterpress type below the issuer name; three manuscript signatures of municipal officials appear at the foot. |

Hinterbrühl is a small village in Lower Austria best known, ironically, as the site where Schubert composed "Die Winterreise" — but this 80 Heller note belongs to a far less romantic episode. Austrian municipal Notgeld of 1920 was a direct consequence of the catastrophic coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy and the fragmentation of successor states. Hundreds of Gemeinden printed their own emergency small change, most of it redeemable in theory and ignored in practice once inflation rendered the denominations worthless within two years.
Wehhofers Erben was a well-regarded Mödling printing firm, local enough to the issuing municipality to make the logistics straightforward. The 80 Heller denomination is slightly unusual — most series clustered around 10, 20, and 50 Heller.
